However, its old brand identity hadn’t kept pace with this expansion, lacking the necessary versatility and scalability. The previous branding, including the logo and wordmark, lacked consistency across various products. Moreover, the packaging design fell short in incorporating distinctive Stellwagen Beer elements that could elevate its iconic status.
The brewery needed the creation of a new brand identity, one that not only fostered consistency and aided in building robust brand awareness but also carefully avoided corporate detachment. It’s crucial for Stellwagen Beer to retain its local charm and connection, which are core to its identity and appeal.
We knew with this rebrand one thing must remain: the whale, although, not in its realistic depiction that Stellwagen previously owned. The realistic whale was not one that could truly be owned by the brand, so an abstract form was adopted. With the logo, Stellwagen Beer Co. needed a new brand identity that better represented their brand strategy.
