In an effort to enter the boutique hotel market in Philadelphia, PA, Cotary faced the challenge of differentiating themselves in a saturated industry. Our task was to brand a hotel rich with neighborhood ties whose guests got a truly unique experience when staying in Northern Liberties' Cotary Boutique Hotel.

Unlike typical competitors in Philadelphia, who prioritize amenities and overshadow smaller businesses, Cotary stands out by focusing on personalized, community-oriented experiences. While many competitors are chained to standardized offerings, they pride themselves on being a dynamic space that engages with the distinct character of Northern Liberties. Cotary’s commitment to authenticity goes beyond mere accommodations. Their unique offerings, including sustainable practices, community events, and collaborations with local businesses and artists, aim to create a genuine and personalized experience for their guests. Since the beginning, they knew that they stood out from the rest because of their unique history with their neighborhood. The leaf is not only a symbol for their eco-conscious nature, but one that represents the growth mindset of Northern Liberties’ entrepreneurial background. Within the lockup, the logo also doubles as a paintbrush, symbolizing the young artists that began their home in Northern Liberties.
